Dr Paul Wharam Sports Physician
B.M, F.R.N.Z.C.G.P, Dip Sports Med, F.A.C.S.P, Masters Degree in Medical Science
Paul is a specialist sports physician and a fellow of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians. He has a worked as a general practitioner for 10 years prior to working in sports medicine for the last 15 years.
Paul has worked as the medical team doctor to Waitakere City soccer team, Auckland Stars basketball team, Tall Blacks basketball team, Breakers basketball team, NZ Knights soccer team, NZ Junior ferns World Cup team and the NZ Paralympic team. He has published research into hyponatremia at the NZ Ironman and completed a Masters degree on the subject.
He runs a referral based service in the Auckland CBD and on the Auckland North Shore. Paul has a contract to see ACC related injuries and is also available to consult regarding private sports medicine issues. Referral can be made by doctors, physiotherapists and other health professionals.
Paul is married with 3 children and is currently training to run the marathon leg of the Wanaka challenge race and the Christchurch marathon in preparation for Boston 2015.
Jane Pegler Personal Assistant
Jane also works for Dr Dale Speedy at Sportscare and works tirelessly to ensure the smooth running of the practice despite being based 50 Km away. She has worked in sports medicine since 2000 and is an invaluable resource.
Jane has 2 children and her current interests are tramping, netball and boxfit.
