Dr Paul Wharam Sports Physician

B.M, F.R.N.Z.C.G.P, Dip Sports Med, F.A.C.S.E.P, Masters Degree in Medical Science

Paul is a specialist sports physician and a fellow of the Australasian College of Sports and Exercise Physicians. He has worked as a general practitioner for 10 years prior to working in sports medicine for the last 21 years.

Paul has worked as the medical team doctor to Waitakere City soccer team, Auckland Stars basketball team, Tall Blacks basketball team, Breakers basketball team, NZ Knights soccer team, NZ Junior ferns World Cup team and the NZ Paralympic team. He has published research into hyponatremia at the NZ Ironman and completed a Masters degree on the subject.

He runs a referral based service in the Auckland CBD. Paul has a contract to see ACC related injuries and is also available to consult regarding private sports medicine issues. Referral can be made by doctors, physiotherapists and other health professionals.

Paul is married with 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Paul has completed numerous running, cycling and triathlon events. These include marathons, NZ Ironman and the Italian Maratona.

Jackie Personal Assistant

Jackie has had many careers including working as a GP and a sexual health specialist. She is now working with her husband Paul to help his clinic run smoothly. She is interested in the positive effects of exercise on all aspects of health and although she has not competed in as many events as her husband, she is a keen runner! In her spare time she is completing a Masters in Psychotherapy.
